The Islamic scholars have often complained that the governments of most Islamic countries violate basic law of Islam. The laws that these governments legislate based on their interpretations of Islamic law cause a lot of limitations and unnecessary control for women and are challenged by those women everyday. However, in the opinion of most Islamic scholars, this is not the ultimate Islam. Quite the contrary, most of these scholars believe that based on the most basic principal of Islam, Justice, all of such inhumane laws can be changed without Islam being damaged. In this regard, I received a letter not too long ago from a Muslem Somalian who said:
My name is Sheikhnur Ali, a Somali who lives in Minneapolis, MN and I do like your work to protecting the women in Iran and since Iran says that follows Islamic Laws, but not following right. Islam gave women rights and we should honor those laws in ever place. What upsets me more is that in Iran don’t promote freedom which Islam itself granted freedom for all. I do love Persian literature.
I want to thank you for your hard work for the women in Iran and the women in Islam have rights and their rights should be protected. Those most Islamic Countries don’t follow Islamic Laws correctly. Again, keep the hard work.
“Some people make their goals the stars
They may live and die never reaching them
But in the darkness of the night, those stars will guide them to their destination,
Because they put them in their sight.”
