Women, the Victims of the Iranian Revolution
Sunday 06 Jun 10
Iranian women played a significant role in the victory of Iranian Revolution in 1979. They were also the first segment of population that, in the name of Islam and revolution, was treated with disrespect and animosity. Immediately after the Revolution on February 11, Iranian women lost the rights they had acquired in the last decade of Pahlavi monarchy. This report sums up some examples of this assault that, in different shapes and forms, has continued for thirty years. Meantime, the legal status of women has deteriorated greatly in comparison to the pre-revolutionary days.
